Forever Blue Circle
We express our sincere gratitude to donors who have already provided for the future of FFA through a bequest in your will, trust, or by designating FFA as a beneficiary of your financial account. In appreciation, we would like to send you a custom gift made by an FFA member as part of their supervised agricultural experience. Dean and Sandra Carlson
The Carlsons Enjoy the Fruits of Their Legacy Now
Dean and Sandra Carlson owned a farm that generated income that they were not dependent on. Based on Dean’s own experience with FFA, they wanted to do something to put the farm to better use. After talking it over with their five children, who heartily approved, the Carlsons decided to use the farm to make a gift of real property to the National FFA Foundation.
The Foundation sold the farm, and used the proceeds to create a scholarship endowment that will exist in perpetuity to serve students from FFA chapters and counties in and around Calhoun County, Iowa.
Three students each year who are bound for agricultural or business study at Iowa State University or other Iowa colleges earn the Dean Carlson Honorary Scholarship.
The best part from the Carlsons’ point of view is that they are able to watch their gift in action as they meet the students each year.
“It feels good and we enjoy it,” said Dean Carlson. We are so impressed with these kids.
Twelve students have received the scholarship so far. I would encourage people who are thinking of making charitable gifts through bequests to consider doing it now, while they are still around to see the results.”
