The Larry D. and Joy L. Case Endowment: Legacy of Leadership

Larry D. Case

Larry D. Case

The three cornerstones of the National FFA mission— premier leadership, personal growth, and career success—have been exemplified by the career of Dr. Larry Case. He began his career in 1966 as an agriculture educationinstructor at a rural high school in Missouri. Dr. Case began serving hiscountry in 1984 when he came to Washington, D.C., as an education program specialist in the fields of agriculture, agribusiness and natural resources education.

He also served as the National Advisor, Chief Administrator, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National FFA Organization and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National FFA Foundation.

For more than a quarter of a century, one of the most enduring and endearing images of each national convention was Dr. Larry Case, as National FFA Advisor. During each opening ceremony he let us know that he was there for all of us by saying, “I hope that my advice will always be based on true knowledge ripened with wisdom.”

Through his leadership, membership in FFA is at an historic high. The tenets of premier leadership, personal growth and career success continue to provide tools that have evolved to meet the needs of each generation.

“Always be proud to work in the industry of agriculture and value your achievements.” With these words that are part of the American FFA Degree Ceremony, Dr. Case has encouraged FFA members to know their own worth and to live by the FFA motto: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve. He has led by example during his years of service to FFA and agricultural education.

It is therefore fitting that the National FFA Foundation establish an endowed fund dedicated to providing world-class leadership experiences for the next generations of FFA members to honor Dr. Case’s service to FFA and agricultural education. Dr. and Mrs. Case have identified these priorities to receive endowment support:

  • Teacher training
  • Student leadership programs
  • Global agricultural career opportunities.
